We’ve seen our mothers strain the water while cooking rice. But little do they know that the precious water they are letting go is a beauty boon. Rice water contains antioxidants, vitamins and nutrients which can actually make a great natural cosmetic for revitalizing the skin and hair. Without further ado, let’s look at some benefits of using rice water on our skin and hair:
Rice water for skin
Rice water can make an excellent cleanser as it is efficient in removing all the dirt and impurities present in your skin. As a skin toner, rice water can make your skin clear and shiny.
Due to its cooling properties, rice water can heal your skin from rashes, acne, pimples and dark spots. Thus providing a more moisturized and fairer-looking skin.
Rice water can also be used as face wash or body wash because of its moisturizing properties.
Use rice water as a face mask to revive and revitalize your dull face.
Rice water can make your skin soft and supple like a baby, when you use it as a scrub.
Rice water for hair
Rice water can help in repairing and strengthening damaged hair. You can use plain or fermented rice water as a conditioner.
Rice water contains ‘saponins’, which can be used as a shampoo for washing and cleaning your hair. Pour some rice water on your hair and give a gentle massage to your scalp and hair. Leave it for about 7-8 minutes. Rinse your hair thoroughly with plain water.
Rice water is also a very effective treatment for hair loss. Pour some green tea in rice water and mix the solution well. Apply it on your hair and scalp, and leave it for 15 minutes. Wash it off with plain water.
Applying rice water pack on hair protects your hair from getting weak and damaged.
Note: You can either use fermented or plain rice water for your hair and skin. Both of the rice water serves the same purpose.
